Chaotic scene took place in New York on Saturday, two men hospitalized with gunshot wounds

On Saturday afternoon, a shooter opened fire in Brooklyn, wounding two people, according to the police. Witnesses recounted a chaotic scene in which a BMW driven by a wounded man drove away from the site of the crime before crashing.

At around 12:20 p.m., the gunman started firing on the crossroads of Bond Street and Warren Street in the area of Boerum Hill. According to the police, the bullets struck a man aged 26 in the face and body, as well as a man aged 23 in the torso.

A witness who was several blocks away from the location of the shooting said that he saw a BMW run a red light at the intersection of Dean Street and Bond Street, sideswiping a parked vehicle. According to their testimony, the BMW then crashed into an Acura, causing the latter to spin out onto a sidewalk and come dangerously close to hitting several bystanders.

The initial investigation showed that the driver then sped off again before turning left onto Atlantic Ave. and eventually coming to a stop at Hoyt St.

The 26-year-old driver and the 23-year-old passenger were both transported to New York Methodist Hospital for treatment. The driver was listed in critical condition, while the passenger was listed in stable condition.

The investigation remains ongoing.
