Deliberations in Kirk Ashton trial continued Monday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — On Monday, the jury in the trial of former Hilton elementary principal Kirk Ashton resumed deliberations.

More than two dozen students have come forward to accuse Ashton of engaging in sexual misconduct with them.

Thursday marked the beginning of the jury’s deliberation process. Members asked for more readings of the testimony on Friday, but they couldn’t decide what to do before the weekend.

According to the papers filed in court, Ashton is accused of assaulting 26 pupils when they were enrolled at Northwood Elementary School between the years 2017 and 2021. Additionally, he is the target of other legal lawsuits.

In April of 2021, Ashton was placed under detention, and he subsequently handed in his resignation. After 17 years, he retired from his position as principal at Northwood.
