Man arrested in connection to hit-and-run motorcycle crash in Greece

Greece, N.Y. — Authorities have apprehended a suspect linked to a hit-and-run incident that occurred last month.

Officials reported that Cody Waters, 32, from Greece, faces charges for fleeing a serious physical injury accident on West Ridge Road on the evening of Sept. 3, 2023.

According to allegations, Waters, along with two companions, was riding motorcycles on West Ridge when they ran a red light, resulting in one of them colliding with a 42-year-old pedestrian in the crosswalk. The injured party was reportedly taken for surgery and later stabilized in the hospital.

The police noted that the group of motorcyclists left the accident site. When law enforcement tried to intercept them, they sped away, leading to one motorcyclist hitting another vehicle at Ridgeway Avenue and Latona Road.

The involved motorcyclist, a 31-year-old from Lyndonville, was hospitalized, though no charges were disclosed. Jason Hirtreiter, 31, of Albion, another rider, remained at the scene, leading to his arrest and charges of DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation.

A third motorcyclist, believed to be Waters, escaped from the scene and evaded immediate capture.

On Monday, Oct. 16, Waters was detained for his supposed role in the episode. He received a summons to appear in Greece Town Court.
