Rochester Animal Services offers no cost vaccinations and microchipping for pets

Rochester, New York – Pet owners in Rochester will have an opportunity this month to protect the health of their animals at no cost, as Rochester Animal Services prepares to host two free vaccine clinics for cats and dogs. The events will take place at the Rochester Community Sports Complex, located at 448 Smith St., in Parking Lot C near the blue storage containers.
The clinics are designed to help residents safeguard their pets while promoting public health and responsible pet care across the community.
Free vaccines and microchips for pets
A free cat vaccine clinic is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15. The clinic is being held in partnership with Keller’s Kats Rescue Inc. and will offer rabies and FVRCP vaccinations. Organizers stress that all cats must be transported in a secure carrier with a closed lid or door. Cats showing aggressive behavior may be denied service for safety reasons. Vaccines will be available while supplies last, and residents seeking additional information may call 585-487-0008.
Later in the week, a free dog vaccine and microchip clinic will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20. Dogs will be eligible to receive rabies and DAPP vaccinations, as well as microchipping services while supplies last. Pet owners must keep dogs on a leash or in an appropriate carrier. Animals with behavioral issues may be turned away to ensure safety. Due to capacity limits, officials warn the line may close early.
Both clinics will operate as drive-up events, though walk-up participants are also welcome. No appointment is required, making it easier for residents to access preventive care for their pets.
City officials say these clinics play an important role in protecting animal health, preventing the spread of disease, and helping families keep their pets safe and identified.
